NEW DELHI: The rumours that Apple is working on augmented reality glasses are back. The latest speculations come courtesy a report in Gizmodo.

Gizmodo website claims to have got access to a copy of a report compiled by an Environment Health and Safety contractor working for Apple. The report mentions several injuries faced by Apple employees, major and minor, by running into a door to getting hit by an Apple van.

Amidst several examples, one of them talks about a prototype device. The report claims that an Apple employee on February 21 required "medical treatment beyond first aid" after using the device.

"After BT4 user study, user advised study lead, that she experienced discomfort in her eye and said she was able to see the laser flash at several points during the study. Study lead referred her to optometrist and secured prototype unit for analysis," says a snippet from the report.

Another report talks about an employee in Apple's Vallco Parkway office in Cupertino facing an eye pain on March 2. Also mentioned is that, "Employee reported eye pain after working with new prototype, though it may be associated with use. He noticed that the security seal on the magenta (outer) case had been broken and had thought the unit may have been tampered with."

One of the Apple employees told Gizmodo that this injury could be because of an augmented reality product that is under testing.

Considering that Apple is still testing the AR glasses, it can be assumed that the company may unveil the product later this year with the AR-supporting iPhone 8 or maybe next year.

Earlier this year, tech evangelist Robert Scoble said that Apple is working in tandem with optical solution provider Carl Zeiss for its augmented reality-based glasses. As per Scoble, an executive from Carl Zeiss AG has confirmed the news of Apple announcing its rumoured AR glasses this year.
